    CARA member Peter VA6RPL, who is also the education officer for the Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons in Calgary, recently did a brief presentation on VHF and HF marine radios.

    Amateur radio operators are reminded that CARA has a world class DX station that can reach out to sailors around the world who are using amateur radio type-specific rigs on their cruisers.

    Want to diversify your VHF radio expertise, and be ready to use a radio in the boating world?  Consider adding the ISED Radio Operator Certificate (Marine) "ROC(M)"   "Maritime VHF Radio" to your skill set.  You can do self study to earn this certificate on-line and then get tested over a live video conference session.  The Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons (CPS) have a discount on this certificate during the Calgary Boat and Outdoors Show this weekend at the BMO Centre.  $25 off the usual price of $125.  Any questions, contact the CPS-ECP Calgary Training Officer Peter VA6RPL at boatinged@cpscalgary.com .
